‘Golden years’ senior seminar planned

-A +A

A “Let’s Talk Seniors” seminar will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Mistywood Independent Senior Living, 1275 Pleasant Grove Blvd., Roseville. The seminar will be a Q&A panel discussion about preparing for your “Golden Years.”

Have you ever wondered what a fiduciary is? Come listen to Michael Storz, a local fiduciary, who will enlighten you about what a fiduciary can do for you. Living trusts, wills, estate planning and understanding Medicare medical benefits will be covered by elder law attorney Don Branner. Financial advisor Sharon Stiles will talk about long-term care and investments. If you would like to know the differences between assisted living and independent living, then listen to Bob Harwood, a Mistywood representative who will talk about the holiday lifestyle and what to expect from an independent senior living community. The co-host for this event, ResCare HomeCare, will have branch manager Janet Almodovar discuss in-home care services.

Another opportunity to continue preparing yourself for the future will happen during the month of November when AARP offers the Driver’s Safety and Driver’s Refresher class free to all military veterans and their dependents.

Since 1979, AARP Driver Safety has offered the nation’s first and largest course for drivers 50 and over and has helped millions of drivers stay in command of the road. You’ll learn proven safety strategies to help maintain your confidence behind the wheel. Plan on attending the Driver Refresher Class Thursday, Nov. 1, or the more intensive two day Driver Safety class Nov. 28 and 29. Both classes start at 10 a.m. in the Mistywood Activity Room.

RSVP to Mistywood at 771-8606 by Oct. 30 to reserve a seat for any or all of the above events.
