Rocklin crash leaves 3,000 homes without powerBy: Brody Fernandez Of Gold Country Media
At approximately 1 p.m. Wednesday, a car driver lost control and struck a transformer on Park Drive near Blaydon Road, according to Rocklin Police Department officials.
No other vehicles were involved.
The driver might have lost control, according to Rocklin Police Sgt. Eric Dollar.
“The single driver in this case was elderly. In cases like these, it could be anything from misuse of medication, losing control of the vehicle or even dozing off at the wheel,” Dollar said. “As for now, the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The vehicle was totaled, a black newer model Jeep Grand Cherokee; and the transformer sustained heavy damage with no other injuries to report at this time.”
PG&E officials on scene at 3 p.m. said that up to 3,000 Rocklin residents could be without power and did not know when power would be restored.
