ROCKLIN– The William Jessup University women’s soccer team was at home against the San Diego Christian College Hawks Saturday. The battle ended in victory for the Warriors, 2-0, and took their record to 5-8 overall, 1-3 in Golden State Athletic Conference.

Jessup’s scores were by Cassidy Gray and Isabel House. Gray scored on an assist by Rachel Roberts and House’s score was unassisted.

“We had a lot of great moments today that we were able to turn into on-frame opportunities,” said Jessup head coach Rachel Constantini. “Today’s goals were fought for; the girls stayed calm and kept pushing until they found the back of the net.”

Warriors’ goalkeeper Camille Cavey had five saves, totaling 55 on the season.

Completing a two-game home stint, William Jessup overwhelmed San Diego Christian, 5-1, Saturday to improve to 6-6 on the season and 2-2 in the GSAC.

Head coach Greg Lazaga had high expectations from the beginning.

“We had competitive fire highlighted on our board in pregame today and I thought that was the way we played ... with fire,” he said.

The Warriors’ scoring was by Paul Anderson (two goals), Omar Magana, Johnny Muresan and Heriberto Trevino. Assists were by Magana and Anderson.

Both clubs will travel to Arizona Christian University for a match Thursday and then on to Ottawa University Saturday before returning home.
