5 questions with Rudy Granados

Owner, Rudy Granados, of Rudy’s Gourmet Mexican Cuisine sat down and discussed what led him from his hometown of Mexico City to Rocklin. 1. What is the most popular item on the menu? “The most popular item is the Rustic Chicken Tortilla Soup and the Chicken Huarache.” 2. What makes your restaurant unique? “The fact that we are very familiar with the family atmosphere [makes us unique]. Everybody gets treated like family when they are here.” 3. Why did you decide to open your own restaurant? “I always wanted to own my own business. I started working with my brother and wife to open a business in the Bay Area. We decided to do our own restaurant. I was tired of making someone else’s business successful.” 4. Do you use any family recipes? “Probably about 80 percent [of our menu] is family recipes.” 5. Who taught you how to cook? “I started when I was 6 or 7 years old with my mom.”
