Do you love to pamper your pet? Have you ever thought of dying your white-haired pooch's tail pink or dressing your pet in a rhinestone-encrusted tiara? If so, the Rocklin area is full of plenty of options to keep you and your furry friend happy and healthy. “(My husband) and I do not have two-legged children so we are able to provide our four-legged children a higher level of care, which includes quality attention, quality food and quality veterinary care,” said Karen Sievwright, owner of two Golden Retrievers, Maximus and Red. “When I shop for a new vehicle, furniture and bed, I consider how my dogs will fit.” The Rocklin and Roseville area caters to pet owners like Sievwright, who want the best for their canine and feline friends. For owners that want high-end items, the Push Puppy Boutique, a Rocklin-based online shop that recently opened a kiosk at the Galleria at Roseville, offers luxury brands and some services that owners won’t find many other places. “We offer an online chat session for customers to help them navigate through the Web site, which we have not found an online dog boutique that offers this,” said Jennifer Kirk, owner of Posh Puppy Boutique. “We also offer free, personal shopping services to people needing help with anything or just finding something we don’t’ have online.” The boutique offers a wide variety of toys, collars, carriers and apparel with brands such as Christian Audigier and Juicy Couture. The boutique also offers products that are unique such as memorial service and wedding attire for pets. “We go to tradeshows nationwide as buyers looking for unique products to offer our customers,” Kirk said. “We also have made such a name for ourselves, new designers come to us constantly asking us to carry their lines.” At Wags to Riches Pet Grooming in Rocklin, dogs experience things such as exclusive bathing products, a hydro-massage bathing system and personalized trims. The business also offers customers the opportunity to get their cats groomed. Another location where pets can get pampered is Muds to Suds in Roseville. At this grooming shop, pet owners have the option of selecting one of the available services or washing their pet themselves. Muds to Suds is one of the only pet grooming places in the area that offers this self-wash option, but that is not the only thing that makes this business unique, according to Kristin Williams, owner of Muds to Suds. “Aside from the fact that we’re the only do-it-yourself dog wash in the area, we strive to build a special bond with pet owners and their pets,” Williams said. “We always treat our customer’s pet as if they’re our own. It’s very important to us to make our customers feel special. Being a small family-owned shop, I feel we do just that.” The business seems to be doing a great job keeping its customers happy, according to customers. “Going to visit Kristen and Greg is like going to visit friends, it is a very relaxed atmosphere so the dogs are relaxed and it’s set up to be easy on the owner’s back,” Sievwright said. “[It is] reasonably priced, excellent equipment, quality grooming, in and out quickly so the dogs do not feel stress — makes it all good.” Other services that Muds to Suds offers includes anesthesia-free teeth cleaning, bath and brush, FURminator treatment, which is a service that reduces shedding up to 90 percent if done on a regular basis and a full-service groom. Another local business that offers pet services and supplies is The Doggie Bag in Granite Bay. The store offers customers the opportunity to experience first-class service. “We really focus on individual customers to meet their pets’ individual needs when necessary,” said The Doggie Bag store owner Sherri Ammirato. Customers who are focused on their pet’s health will find a wide range of food and treats, Ammirato said. “We carry holistic dog food and treats,” she said. “People want to feed their dog healthy food. Also, we are very knowledgeable about nutrition (for pets).” “The store has merchandise that also sets it apart from its competition,” Ammirato said. “We offer a lot of unique items. From life vests and backpacks for dogs to car seats for little dogs and clothing.” Local residents said they appreciate the many stores and services that are available in the area. “I feel very fortunate to have many great services in my community,” Sievwright said.
