Auburn Giants drop opener
Little League TOC
Jacob Erickson made the Auburn Giants’ visit to the Tournament of Champions a brief one Wednesday night at Beggs Field.
Erickson struck out 13 of the 20 batters he faced and added three RBIs as the Tri-City Yankees ousted Auburn from the single-elimination tournament with a 6-0 victory.
The Major division tournament continues today with Auburn’s other representative — the Astros — taking on Lincoln at 5 p.m. The Astros beat the Rocklin Red Sox 9-5 Tuesday night.
Erickson’s wicked curveball made life miserable for the Giants on Wednesday. Todd Valliere and Chip Mitchell had the only hits for Auburn.
Valliere had a solid night on the mound himself, racking up seven strikeouts in five innings of work. But Erickson had a two-run double and homer to lead the Yankees.
