BloodSource celebrated 20 years of saving lives with Roseville blood donors with a Community Open House on January 13. BloodSource opened its Roseville center in January of 1991 to meet the needs of the Roseville community. As Roseville has grown, so has the need for BloodSource to provide blood and blood components to area medical facilities that now includes specialty care at a Level II trauma center, cancer centers, neonatal units, cardiac centers and more. Becky Cheshire, satellite manager at Roseville, speaks highly of the Roseville blood donor community. “Roseville and the regional community here support blood donation for ongoing local needs and to help across the nation when needed, such as during recent snowstorms on the East Coast hampering blood collection efforts or when certain blood type donations are needed like the current need for Type O negative donors,” Cheshire said. BloodSource is the blood provider for 40 hospitals in Northern and Central California including medical centers in Roseville and Sacramento, serving 25 inland counties with a population of over five million people from Merced north to the Oregon border and Vacaville east to Lake Tahoe. The BloodSource center in Roseville also serves donors from surrounding areas, including Rocklin, Granite Bay, Loomis, and Lincoln. ~Staff report
