Rocklin Police officers and firefighters made a grisly discovery as they finished putting out a vehicle fire around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday. “They saw a body in the driver’s seat,” said Rocklin Police Lt. Lon Milka. “It was burned beyond recognition.” The Mercedes SUV, which was parked on West Oaks Boulevard at the end of Lonetree Boulevard, had no apparent front end damage. Based on the results of the autopsy performed by the Placer County Coroner's Office Wednesday, the Rocklin Police Department is not investigating the death as a homicide. "Positive ID is pending a dental records check," said Lt. Lon Milka. Toxicology tests must be done before the medical examiner can determine the cause of death, he concluded.
