Business and planning applications landing at Roseville’s City Hall are stirring optimism that two large projects are on the horizon.

The first would be a 200,000-square-foot FedEx ground distribution facility at 8501 Foothill Blvd., tentatively known as the Roseville Corporate Center. The application was filed by developer Scannell Properties, a longtime partner of FedEx. A number of documents in the application also bear FedEx’s official logo.

“Right now, the city has the application from the developer,” said Roseville public information officer Brian Jacobson, “but we haven’t heard directly from FedEx yet, so there’s not much we can comment on.”

The other extensive project in the works is a 120,000-square-foot workout complex for Life Time Fitness Inc., which planning applications suggest will be built between East Roseville Parkway and Secret Ravine Parkway.

Life Time Fitness is a national chain. Drawings submitted to city planners on Monday suggest the company hopes to build a modern-looking two-story building surrounded by 14 clay tennis courts, kids quick-start courts, an outdoor day camp area, a leisure pool with water slides, whirlpools and an outdoor bistro for dining by the pool.

“That’s shaping up to be a huge facility,” Jacobson said.
