The 2013 Capital Athletic League champion Whitney High baseball team proved once again why they are on top by defeating visiting Cordova 13-3 in the Wildcats’ final regular-season home game Friday.

Trevor Abrams, Aaron Winter, J.R Robinson, Kyle Ruhkala, and Chris Schwarz were honored before the game as the seniors bid farewell to friends, family and fans.

Schwarz started the game for the Wildcats but quickly found himself down 2-0 after the first inning. But his senior classmates quickly made up the deficit.

With two outs, Robinson made it to second base on a fielding error by the center fielder. A pitch later, Abrams singled in Robinson.

Winter then was able to drive in Abrams on a ground-rule double to tie the game.

Whitney all but sealed the game in the third inning. The Wildcats’ sent up 13 batters who proceeded to drive in eight runs on three hits, five base-on-balls and one hit batter.

The senior class performed exceptional in their last regular-season game at Whitney. The five went a combined 7-for-10 with nine runs scored, six RBI, and seven base-on-balls.
