Do you have a chili recipe that’s a hands down family favorite? Or a classic car or roadster that turns a few heads? If so, then Hot Chili & Cool Cars is the place to be. Celebrating its 16th year of family fun, the Rocklin Chamber’s annual street fair is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 on Pacific Street in Rocklin. Car owners are encouraged to enter their automotive beauties in this year’s event where they’ll be competing for several different prizes, including Best of Show. Chili booths are still available for purchase and to keep things spicy, chili cooks will be judged in four different categories: Best Chili, Most Unusual Chili, Hottest Chili and People’s Choice. The winner will receive a prize of $300 and walk away with bragging rights as the Chili Champion. The Matthew Redding Foundation will once again benefit from a portion of the chili kit sales. A variety of food will be available from more than a dozen different vendors ranging from teriyaki chicken to funnel cakes. Local business and crafters’ booths will also be featured. Back by popular demand to entertain the crowd is the Dave Russell Band. This is the band’s third year of providing music for event goers. Hot Chili & Cool Cars is open to the public with free admission for all. In honor of Hot Chili & Cool Cars’ Sweet 16, the chamber said they have sweetened the benefits for all sponsors this year. Sponsors will receive exposure on cable and in print media advertising, Web site recognition and more. Booths will be competing for the top spot in the Sweet 16 contest by showcasing their idea of the best candy or 50’s theme. For the kids, guests can stop by the Kids Korner area where children of all ages will enjoy activities with bounce houses, a climbing wall, face painting, carnival type games, crafts and more.
