The California Highway Patrol will hold a free car seat inspection from 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday in the rear parking lot of the Alyboo & Izybee Foundation, 4830 Pacific Street. Technicians will provide the public with assistance in installing car seats and the latest information about Child Passenger Safety, including new car seat laws. "We will also be able to answer questions regarding laws requiring children to ride in the back seat of cars," said David Martinez, spokesman for the Auburn CHP office. "There will be technicians on hand who have received training and have been certified by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration to install car seats." The proper use of a child restraint system can dramatically increase a child’s chance of surviving a traffic collision. Additionally, four out of five car seats have not been installed correctly. "Stop by and make sure your child is secured in his/her car seat correctly," Martinez concluded. Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
