Crime Log: Woman and child carjacked on Riverside Avenue in Roseville

Feb. 1

Around 8 p.m., a woman was shopping at a grocery store in the 900 block of Pleasant Grove Boulevard when her purse was stolen directly out of her shopping cart.  

Feb. 2

Sometime during the night, thieves smashed the windows of two cars parked in an apartment complex at 751 Central Park Drive. Gaining access, the suspects stole a stereo amplifier and other a number of other expensive items.

Feb. 3

A woman was walking on Hickory Street near Brookwood Road around 9 a.m. when two men accosted her. The suspects approached her from behind, grabbed her purse and ran away. Both suspects are described as black males in their 20s. One suspect is 5 feet, 9 inch tall and weighs about 140 pounds. He has dark skin and short "buzzed" hair. The other suspect has a lighter complexion and 4-inch-long dreadlocks.

Feb. 4

Just after 7:20 a.m., a woman and her son were buying gas for their car at a station in the 100 block of Riverside Avenue when two men carjacked them at gunpoint. The suspects drove away in the victims' car, a dark gray 2012 Nissan Altima. Roseville police said the car has not been located. One suspect is described a light-complexioned black or Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s. He has a slim build and was armed with a handgun. The second suspect was a Hispanic male in his early 20s.

In the days leading up to Feb. 4, thieves tampered with light poles in the 7400 and 7500 blocks of Galilee Road, stripping copper wire and apparently preparing to steal the poles themselves. Copper wire was also ripped from light poles in a nearby neighborhood.

Feb. 5

Around 2 p.m., a man was eating lunch outside in the Rocky Ridge Town Center when he saw a thief breaking into an SUV in the parking lot. The suspect smashed a side window of the vehicle before grabbing a portable GPS, a laptop computer, an iPod and a wallet containing the victim's ID, credit cards and cash. The thief left the scene before authorities arrived. He is described as a black male in his 20s, 6 feet tall and weighing 185 pounds. He had a red bandana and hat. The suspect was also observed leaving in a dark-colored Dodge sedan. The Roseville Police Department believes the suspect may also be involved in a number of other vehicle burglaries.  

Some time before 4:40 p.m., a vehicle was burglarized in the 1800 block of Douglas Boulevard and a vehicle was broken into in the 100 block of Sunrise Avenue. Both crimes were committed by smashing in windows. A laptop computer was stolen from one victim and a number of items were stolen from the other. An Asian male suspect was seen at one burglary, and a dark-colored four-door sedan was spotted at the other.
