Del Oro escapes Thunder juggernaut with 0-0 tie

Rocklin at Roseville Friday
After a strong 9-2 preseason start the Rocklin High girls soccer team played host to Del Oro and was hospitable enough to let the Golden Eagles come away with a scoreless tie last week. It set the stage for what should be another exciting Sierra Foothill League season. Seemingly ready to pick up where they left off last season, the Thunder came into the contest smarting a bit from a 2-1 loss to Davis. It was Rocklin’s first setback in five matches. They bounced back to down Bella Vista 4-1 and appeared poised to send Del Oro packing. However, the girls from Loomis had a different plan as they improved to 1-0-1. Granite Bay had the best start standing at 2-0 after defeating both Woodcreek, 2-0, and Nevada Union 9-0. Roseville also appeared to be the team to beat with an 11-0 preseason record. But the Tigers were tripped up by the Timberwolves 2-0 in their first SFL outing. The Thunder had a date with Woodcreek Wednesday, and was then to travel to Roseville to face the Tigers Friday. The club will then be on spring break until April 11 when they travel to Granite Bay to take on the Grizzlies.
