A grassfire at Dillman Range off the 1500 block of Sheridan Lincoln Boulevard is being contained Monday afternoon.

About a dozen shooters evacuated the property at 1 p.m. There were no injuries. As of press time, it is unknown if there is any property damage.

Dillman Range master Phil Pennington said he noticed the fire shortly after 1 p.m. on the east end of the range.

The fire “came up over the back,” according to Pennington.

Calfire responded with four engines and two trucks. Lincoln Fire Department Engine 34 was backup.

Three Calfire planes circled around the range, starting at 1:40 p.m., and dropped fire retardant on the fire behind the range hill.

Pennington said there were five pistol bays west of the fire and the fire was kept away, as of 2 p.m.
