Re: Proposition 36 and the three strikes law: When someone commits a crime, they should be sent away to learn a lesson. If, when they get out, they commit another crime, they have not learned that lesson. The fact that they get one chance is OK, but two chances is a slap in the face to the victims of the crimes.
If we revoke the third strike law, then we are giving them two chances. And what is a “violent” crime, anyway? A crime can still make someone else’s life harder even if it is not a violent one.
People wonder why our crime rate is rising. Well, it’s because the justice system is not working.
