Adding a significant new dimension to its leadership program, the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce announced that every graduate of Leadership Rocklin is eligible to receive a $10,000 scholarship for any master’s program at Drexel University’s Center for Graduate Studies in Sacramento. Launched in 2003, Leadership Rocklin brings up-and-coming leaders together for 10 months. The program was created to educate, develop and motivate emerging leaders to be involved and committed to the Rocklin area. Leadership Rocklin encourages active community involvement in leadership positions. It also gives participants the opportunity to meet local government, business and civic leaders. “What Drexel has done for Leadership Rocklin is bring the entire program to a new level of excellence,” said Franklin Burris, chairman of the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce. “By linking the substantial tuition assistance to continuing their community service through the Chamber, Drexel is making the point that those who are able to attend a university of Drexel’s caliber should also give back to their community. This is a value that all of us currently in leadership positions share.” The scholarship is available to any graduate admitted to Drexel since the Leadership program began eight years ago. As part of the scholarship, recipients must perform at least 50 hours of public service through the Rocklin Chamber. This requirement continues the Leadership program’s focus on the importance of civic leadership for those who are leaders in their businesses and professions. “Drexel University has been a wonderful addition to the Greater Sacramento Region. It’s been a lead sponsor of Leadership Rocklin since it arrived as well as an active member of our Chamber,” said Robin Trimble, CEO of the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce.
