Rocklin's Scotty Walker now in Scottsdale
A former Del Oro High School baseball star, and resident of Rocklin, was recently signed by the San Francisco Giants and has reported to Scottsdale, Ariz., for training. Scotty Walker continued his career pitching for the UC Davis Aggies after making All League in the Sierra Foothill League throwing for the Golden Eagles. He then went on to pitch in the Northwoods League (a wood bat college league) with the Mankato Moondogs where he recorded 34 strikeouts in just over 19 innings, and compiled a 1.86 earned-run-average. It was there the left-hander was signed by the Giants. In spite of undergoing two surgeries on his throwing arm, including the famed Tommy John procedure, Walker fires his fastball at around 95 miles per hour. The 6-foot, 1-inch, 195-pound Walker is a senior at UC Davis.
