Former Rocklin tennis star returns for tournament
Former Rocklin High tennis star Heather Davidson returned to the area last week to participate in the Big Sky Conference tournament as a member of the University of Montana womens tennis team.
Although the Grizzlies finished as runners-up to California State University Sacramento, Davidson was named to the all-conference first team. Davidson earned first-team honors as a freshman, junior and senior and is only the second UM player to make all-conference three times.
Davidson had 73 singles victories over her four years and 73 doubles wins. Three times she reached 20 wins in singles; she won 41 doubles matches as a junior and senior.
“Heather brought a competitive drive to the team but she balanced that by being psychologically and emotionally in control when she was in the moment,” said Montana tennis head coach Steve Ascher, “I think the coaches recognized the way we compete as a team, and a lot of that began with Heather.”
