The Placer County Sheriff's Office now offers county residents the ability to learn about criminal activity in their neighborhoods through a new online notification system.

Residents who live in the sheriff office’s jurisdiction can sign up for the program online at www.placer.ca.gov\sheriff, and follow the link to Crimemapping.com. Once there, citizens may sign up to receive crime alerts to keep abreast of criminal activity occurring up to a two-mile radius of their homes.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office, through Crimemapping.com, offers public access to crime information for unincorporated Placer County, the City of Colfax and the Township of Loomis. It is updated regularly with public information about certain types of crime reports. Search for an address and select the crime types and date range you want to see, or view all crimes in the jurisdiction.

Crimemapping.com also provides a free mobile app for iPhones.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office can also be followed on Facebook at www.facebook.com/PlacerSheriff, or on Twitter at @placersheriff
