As the festivities came to a close at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II track and field finals Friday night at Bella Vista High School, a Woodcreek freshman put a sensational cap on a great night for the Lady Timberwolves. Taking the baton with more than 10 yards to make up on Oakmont’s Tiara Keller, Woodcreek’s Jacque Harvel held her ground before closing in on and passing the Oakmont junior in the final 50 meters to give the Timberwolves the top spot in the girls 4x400-meter relay. That event topped off a night in which Woodcreek placed second among the girls teams participating in the DII meet. Granite Bay finished third as a team, with Del Oro fifth and Oakmont sixth. The top eight finishers in each event qualify for the section Masters meet to be contested on Thursday and Friday at Sacramento City College’s Hughes Stadium. The Woodcreek relay team also included junior Maya Cabiness and sophomores Hannah Hardy and Lauren Sederberg. Harvel also qualified individually for the Masters meet with a second place finish in the 400-meter dash. In that race, she finished nearly two seconds behind Oakmont’s outstanding sprinter, Jazmin Harper. Harper qualified for Masters in four events, as she ran the opening leg of the 4x400 for the Vikings, and also finished second in the 200 and as part of Oakmont’s second place 4x100 relay quartet. Keller joins Harper as a four-event qualifier, and will run in the same series of races at Hughes Stadium. The biggest surprise in the preliminary round on the track Wednesday came in the girls 300-meter hurdles, where one of the favorites, Roseville sophomore Stephanie Blumm, hit a hurdle and fell to 10th place, one position short of advancing to Friday’s event finals. Blumm did qualify for Friday night as part of the Tigers 4 x 100 relay team, but the team was scratched and did not compete. Granite Bay had a strong performance in the girls distance races, with Christine Zavesky finishing second in the 1600 and sixth in the 800-meter run. Brooke Holt crossed right behind her teammate in the 1600 and also finished fifth in the 3200-meter run, which was won by Woodcreek’s Courtney Crosta. Holt shared a common accomplishment with Rocklin senior Sam O’Hair. The two were the only runners to pull off an impressive double on Friday, advancing to Hughes Stadium in both of the longest distance events, the 1600 and the 3200. Granite Bay’s Amy Fuelner won a pair of field events, capturing the title in both shot put and discus, while her teammate Katie Zingheim won the girls pole vault. Woodcreek’s Kayla Kamaka, who finished third in the pole vault, was also second in the 100-meter hurdles. Kamaka’s teammate, Jordan Hardy, finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. Another huge story at the meet came from Roseville sophomore Chelsee Elliott, who won the triple jump on Friday after a second place finish in the long jump Wednesday. On the boys side of things, Justin Sutter continued his run of excellence in winning the long jump competition and his sophomore teammate John Park will join him at the Masters in that event, off a seventh-place result at Bella Vista. Jordon Alviso of Granite Bay equaled the top pole vault mark at the meet, sharing that with Robbie and Cale Simmons of Rocklin. Roseville’s Jordan Magnusson moved on in two events, with a third place result in the 200-meter and a fourth in the 100 and Rocklin’s Josh Carter took second in the 300-meter hurdles and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles. The Sac-Joaquin Section Masters track finals will take place Thursday and Friday at Hughes Stadium. Thursday’s field event trials and finals begin at 3 p.m., while preliminary round running heats start at 4 p.m. The remaining field events go off Friday at 4 p.m. and finals on the track fire off at 6 p.m. Here are the top eight finishers in each event at the SJS DII track and field finals (all qualify for next week’s SJS Masters at Hughes Stadium): Girls 100-meter dash 1 Monikkia White, Sr., Vallejo - 12.16 2 Brittany Adams, Jr., Inderkum – 12.61 3 Emily Cooper, So., Vista del Lago – 12.76 4 Natallia Johnson, Jr., Cordova – 12.78 5 Simone Heyward, Jr., Rosemont – 12.96 6 Narissa Trubol, Fr., Vista del Lago – 12.97 7 Nadia Lewis, So., Benicia – 13.04 8 Kellyn Morning, So., Roseville – 13.06 Girls 200-meter dash 1 Monikkia White, Sr., Vallejo – 24.74 2 Jazmin Harper, So., Oakmont – 24.91 3 Brittany Adams, Jr., Inderkum – 25.28 4 Emily Cooper, So., Vista del Lago – 25.58 5 Natallia Johnson, Jr., Cordova – 26.10 6 Tiara Keller, Jr., Oakmont – 26.19 7 Kym Crosby, So., River Valley – 26.91 8 Keikei Johnson, Fr., McClatchy – 27.01 Girls 400-meter dash 1 Jazmin Harper, So., Oakmont – 55.83 2 Jacque Harvel, Fr., Woodcreek – 57.74 3 Kym Crosby, So., River Valley – 58.07 4 Samantha Eggert, Sr., Del Oro – 58.27 5 Tiara Keller, Jr., Oakmont – 59.00 6 Monique Jones, Sr., Vallejo – 59.02 7 Jessica Sargeson, Sr., Benicia – 59.53 8 Anais Munoz, Jr., McClatchy – 60.04 Girls 800-meter run 1 Samantha Diaz, Sr., Ponderosa – 2:14.13 2 Samantha Ralston, So., Oak Ridge – 2:15.00 3 Hayley Scott, Jr., Oak Ridge – 2:17.89 4 Abby Walker, Fr., Oak Ridge - 2:18.96 5 Erin Sanders, Sr., Pioneer – 2:19.34 6 Christine Zavesky, So., Granite Bay – 2:19.36 7 Kelsey Seaman, Jr., Del Oro – 2:19.91 Girls 1600-meter run 1 Hayley Scott, Jr., Oak Ridge – 5:02.58 2 Christine Zavesky, So., Granite Bay – 5:03.76 3 Brooke Holt, So., Granite Bay – 5:11.20 4 Caitlin Devitt Payne, So., Del Oro – 5:12.60 5 Erin Sanders, Sr., Pioneer – 5:14.02 6 Alison Motor, Sr., Galt – 5:14.51 7 Stacey Haack, Sr., Oakmont – 5:18.01 8 Jacqueline Mansoor, So., Oak Ridge – 5:18.71 Girls 3200-meter run 1 Courtney Crosta, Jr., Woodcreek – 11:12.97 2 Sarah Tusting, Sr., Benicia – 11:13.39 3 Olivia Mickle, Sr., Loretto – 11:19.04 4 Brittany Putnam, So., Oak Ridge – 11:22.83 5 Brooke Holt, So., Granite Bay – 11:24.66 6 LeeAnn Hold, Fr., Oak Ridge – 11:31.45 7 Shayna Powless, Fr., Roseville – 11:32.71 8 Catherine Crisp, Sr., Roseville – 11:34.53 Girls 100-meter hurdles 1 Aislynn Mueller, Sr., Oak Ridge – 15.40 2 Kayla Kamaka, Sr., Woodcreek – 16.04 3 Chike Eke, So., Mira Loma – 16.27 4 Jordan Hardy, Jr., Woodcreek – 16.29 5 Tori Mason, So., Sacramento – 16.61 6 Rachel Eisen, So., Ponderosa – 16.83 7 Jessica Mixon, Jr., Del Oro – 17.09 8 Rachel Lahr, Fr., Vista del Lago – 17.22 Girls 300-meter hurdles 1 Monique Jones, Sr., Vallejo – 44.72 2 Aislynn Mueller, Sr., Oak Ridge – 45.28 3 Rachel Eisen, So., Ponderosa – 47.24 4 Amber Lau, Jr., McClatchy – 47.52 5 Jordan Hardy, Jr., Woodcreek – 47.55 6 Tori Mason, So., Sacramento – 47.67 7 Joleen Chanco, So., Woodcreek – 47.75 8 Desiree Bacchi, So., Del Oro – 47.88 Girls 4x100-meter relay 1 Vallejo – 48.64 2 Oakmont – 48.75 (Tiara Keller, Jr.;
