Golfer Development Academy program offered at Timber Creek
By: Staff Report
Golf lessons typically run on a periodic basis and are rarely offered on consecutive days. Realizing the need for an alternative to the average golf lesson, Timber Creek Golf Course in Roseville has established the Golfer Development Academy, which offers three straight days and a combination of 12 hours of instruction. This teaching program is the only multi-day golf school in the Sacramento region. The Academy has three sessions remaining this year: June 24-26; Sept. 2-4; Oct. 7-9. All sessions run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and include a half-hour lunch. Introduced by Timber Creek head professional Mark Gouger, the goal of the Golfer Development Academy is for golfers to discover their individual game without boundaries or parameters. Golfers can choose to stay on the driving range and practice areas for the majority of their instruction or receive on-course teaching tips while playing golf on the well manicured 27-hole Timber Creek facility at Sun City Roseville, located at 7050 Del Webb Blvd. All facets of the game – from tee to green – will be emphasized in the three days and 12 hours of instruction. Cost is $599 per golfer, which includes video analysis, green fees and unlimited range balls. “The Golfer Development Academy is unique to the Sacramento region and is a wonderful way to really focus on your game for three consecutive days,” Gouger said. “We offer a fun, informative program that provides immediate feedback in our practice areas and also in our playing sessions on the course. We diagnose any problem you may be having, let you view a video analysis tape, then go to work on improving your technique. Our students have unanimously taken positive steps to improve their game and ultimately lower their golf scores.” The Academy is limited to 12 people and the teaching ratio is no more than 4-1 for each instructor. An acclaimed PGA professional, Gouger leads the Academy instruction along with veteran teaching professional Chris Beachley. Mike Pereira had this to say about his experience at the Golf Academy. “I have taken quite a few golf lessons in the past two years – from group lessons to private lessons,” Pereira said. “The greatest advantage of the Timber Creek Golf Academy is that the instruction is four hours per day for three days in a row. The Academy will help me to improve now and in the future, which is priceless. My understanding and appreciation of the game has tremendously improved. Mark’s knowledge of the game and his instruction style are the best I have had.” For more information, call Timber Creek at (916) 774-3850 or visit timbercreekgc.com and click on TCGDA.
