A group of Rocklin parents and community leaders has created a new local nonprofit organization to support programs that benefit students in the Rocklin Unified School District. The Rocklin Educational Excellence Foundation Inc. provides a fundraising vehicle for community members and businesses to support students to reach their highest potential and become responsible citizens. “Rocklin is fortunate to have excellent schools that provide consistent, high-quality education to the children of our community,” said Tom DeLapp, the founding chairman of REEF. “In bringing together community, business and civic leaders through this foundation, we intend to create additional resources that will maintain the competitive edge for our students.” The organization is working with RUSD to identify specific needs in the district that will benefit from direct fund-raising efforts. “We are excited by the initial reception our organization has received,” DeLapp said. “The Rocklin community is very supportive of its schools and we look forward to working with individuals and organizations to channel that support for the benefit of Rocklin’s children.” The group already has begun partnering with other community organizations, including the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce and a group of district employees who organized the Oct. 17 Tour de Rocklin biking event. “As always, we appreciate the community support and involvement in our schools,” said Todd Lowell, RUSD board president, who serves as the school board’s representative to the organization. “We are excited about the development of this organization and the great potential to enhance our schools.” The Foundation has launched a Web site,, and continues to recruit board members. ~ Staff report
