A free electronic waste drive-thru/drop off fundraiser to help Panther Outdoor Education Camp will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Dollar Tree parking lot in Rocklin.

Funds raised will benefit the current fifth-graders at Parker Whitney Elementary School who choose to attend outdoor science camp when they are in sixth grade.

Participants need not leave their vehicles, as volunteers will be on hand to help unload. The event is sponsored by California Electronic Asset Recovery, a California state-approved electronic waste collector and recycler.

Items accepted are monitors, televisions, desktop and notebook PCs, VCRs, stereo equipment, CD’s, speakers, keyboards, mice, PDAs, digital cameras, zip drives, telephones, cell phones, printers, copiers, laser and multifunction scanners and fax machines, microwaves, small household appliances such as toasters, mixers and blenders, and vacuum cleaners with the dust bag removed.

Items not accepted are large household appliances (i.e. refrigerators, washers, dryers, etc.), furniture, hazardous household waste, including batteries, car batteries, paint, pesticides, used oil and cleaning supplies, fluorescent light bulbs, water heaters, tires etc.
