A Folsom High School junior will be the featured soloist as the William Jessup University Community Wind Ensemble and The Roseville Community Concert Band combine forces to present “An Evening of Winds” at the college campus on June 4 at 7:30 p.m. The combined ensembles will present a variety of music from Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 6 to a medley of Frank Sinatra songs. Featured soloist for the evening will be flautist Presilla Kim, a junior at Folsom High School and this year’s winner of the Sacramento Valley Community Band Association's annual award. Kim is the drum major of the Folsom High School Marching Band and has played as part of the Sacramento Youth Symphony for five years. She participated in the California All-State Honor Band, as well as the Cal Poly All-State Honor Band, for which she was the winner of the 2008 solo competition. Established in 2000, the RCCB is directed by Stephanie Sugano. Sugano teaches music at Cooley Middle School and various elementary schools in the Roseville school district. She is the vice president of the California Music Educators Association, Capitol Section. CCB performs for community events and concerts throughout the year.
