Rocklin’s Vanessa Hill, 10, of the Loomis Basin Dolphins, eschewed her No. 3 ranking and beat the field to the wall in the girls 25-yard butterfly for 9-10-year-olds at the Sacramento Suburban Swim League Championships, Sierra College, July 31. It was the second year in a row Hill accomplished the feat. At age 9, she also grabbed the top spot in the same event, beating out 140 others. Hill’s parents are Phil and Patricia Hill, grandparents Peter and Janet Hill, and Amy Arcila, all of Rocklin. Vanessa Hill has been swimming with the Dolphins for five years. Her brother, Eddie, also swims with the club for 6U.
