Hit and run damages funeral home

Police arrested a driver accused of damaging a local funeral home after an early morning single vehicle accident. According to the police report, Jeffrey James Morse called the California Highway Patrol July 29 to report his vehicle stolen during a carjacking. After investigation, the reporting officer said the 18-year-old made up the report about the stolen vehicle and that it was Morse who perpetrated a hit and run that damaged the Heritage Oaks Memorial Chapel on Destiny Drive. The report said Morse admitted to drinking before the accident. Morse was arrested for the incident and charged with hit and run, initiating a false report of a felony, DUI and a probation violation. ~ Jon Brines
