South Placer families are encouraged to promote cross-cultural connections this summer by hosting an international student for 19 days.
Educational Homestay Programs, a division of Education First, is a nonprofit based in Cambridge, Mass. EHP will bring students from France, China, Austria and Hong Kong this summer to study English and experience the American way of life. The organization is looking for homes for these students in Roseville, Rocklin, Granite Bay, Loomis, Citrus Heights and Antelope.
Students ages 13-18 will visit July 16 through Aug. 5. The students will be under the supervision of EF program staff from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, attending language classes in the morning and participating in a variety of organized educational activities and field trips. Host families may join the group for activities.
Volunteer host families are asked to provide a bed, meals and transportation to and from the pickup/drop off location in their neighborhood. Families may choose to host a boy or girl from any of the visiting countries. For every family that is referred to EHP, the family or a chosen organization/charity will receive a $25 donation and earn discounts on other Education First travel products.
