Jessup’s Daniells CALPAC’s Coach of the Year

Cross country places four on conference team

William Jessup University’s cross country team placed three men on the California Pacific Conference All-Conference team, and one woman. Mens cross country head coach Parker Daniells was named CALPAC’s Coach of the Year. Making the mens team were Chadd Baltzley, Ben Burchett, and Wayne Smith. Baltzley is from Loomis. The women’s Kimberly Spencer was also selected All Conference. Mens basketball The Warriors took it on the chin at the Sixth Annual Bill Holtz Warrior Classic dropping games to both No. 4 Oregon Tech, and Northwest Christian. Jessup senior Preston Bramow tallied 17 against Tech in the 62-52 loss. Marqus Crawford scored 24, and Anthony Anderson 18, but Northwest Christian was able to come away with a 76-65 victory. Bramow was named to the all-tournament team. The club will travel to Klamath Falls this week to compete in the Midland Empire Insurance Classic, hosted by Oregon Tech. Womens basketball The Lady Warriors also fell in the Holtz Warrior tournament. Oregon Tech earned a 69-55 win, while Northwest Christian toppled WJU 57-48. Senior Cassie Davidson had 14 points against Oregon, Alyssa Wright 13. Sophomore Brittany Smith and Wright both scored 10 each against Northwest. Wright was named to the all-tournament team. Wright had 16 points in a match up against Division II Humboldt State. State was a little too much gaining a 74-56 win. The Lady Warriors will also compete in the Midland Classic at Klamath Falls. Volleyball Junior Hannah Baldwin was named to the CALPAC All-Conference first team in volleyball. Baldwin is from Colfax. Earning second team honors was freshman Sara Hickenbottom; Lauren Koons and Molly Collins received honorable mention. Baldwin led the Warriors with 267 kills and 39 aces this season. Hickenbottom led with 62 blocks and a hitting percentage of .281, while recording 156 kills. Koons recorded 214 kills, while sophomore Molly Collins led the Warriors with 381 digs.
