The Whitney Jr. Wildcats Jr. PeeWees captured the Sierra Foothill Conference Championship with a spectacular win over the Folsom Jr. Bulldogs, Saturday. The 38-0 win capped an undefeated season the young ‘Cats. The Jr. Wildcats ground game broke things open in the second half as the Whitney club rushed for four touchdowns in six offensive plays to bury the Bulldogs. The Wildcats racked up 300 total yards. The performance was no fluke, as the Jr. ‘Cats complied 305 points against opponents this season, and gave up just six point! It was Whitney’s second championship team as both finished with a perfect 10-0 record – in just four seasons. The defense was coached by Jeff Cavarra and Vern Scheuplein. “It starts with great parents,” said head coach Brian Suoto of the reasons for his club’s success. “The support of our fans during the championship run was the best I have ever seen in youth football.” Suoto went on to say that he was not only proud of his players, but said they were the greatest group of young men he’s ever had the opportunity to coach. The road was not an easy one, as the Jr. Bulldogs defeated the Jr. Wildcats in last year’s championship game. The club also had to knock off two previously undefeated teams, and had to beat cross-town rival the Rocklin Jr. Thunder twice to maintain their perfect season. Guy Chaffin is a Jr. Wildcats’ parent
