Jr. Thunder hosts basketball camp

-A +A
The 2011 Jr. Thunder Boys Basketball Summer Camp is just around the corner. Rocklin High School’s varsity boys basketball head coach Michael Lorente will be leading the four-day camp scheduled from 8 a.m. to noon from June 13 through June 16. “This is my second year hosting the camp,” Lorente said, “but I believe it has been around for 15 years or so.” The camp is meant to help youth from kindergarten through eighth-graders who want to learn the fundamentals of basketball. Skills being taught include shooting, passing, ball handling, defense and rebounding. Lorente said he loves to see the kids make progress as the week goes on and they begin to play in team games. He said it is always fun to watch what they like to call the wall-sit contest and coach says game. “The little guys absolutely love both games. They make the best faces during the wall-sit game when they struggle to stay up,” Lorente said. “They are super competitive trying to follow what coach says.” Space is limited.
