Lady Warriors stun No. 28 Corban in soccer

OAKLAND _ The William Jessup University womens soccer team opened up California Pacific Conference play against rival Holy Names University, Saturday. The Hawks defeated the Lady Warriors 1-0. The loss dropped the Warriors to 3-6 on the season, and 0-1 in conference. The Lady Warriors soccer team defeated No. 28 ranked Corban University 3-2 in a double-overtime thriller, last week. Sophomore Alyssa Wimmer headed in the winning goal on the final play of the game off a free kick from fellow sophomore Emily Fernandez. William Jessup hosts Menlo College on Tuesday, 3 p.m., Jessup Field. They will then host Academy of Arts University, Thursday, 3 p.m.. Mens soccer Despite out shooting California Maritime Academy 20-11, the Warriors soccer team fell 3-0 in their CALPAC opener, Sept. 20 in Vallejo. In Oakland, defending conference champion Holy Names University defeated the Warriors 9-0. The Warriors travel to Belmont to take on Notre Dame de Namura at 1 p.m., Saturday. Volleyball In the CALPAC home opener Saturday night, the Lady Warriors had little firepower as they were swept by Menlo College 3-0. Freshman Sara Hickenbottom recorded 12 kills and four blocks on the night The Warriors volleyball team dropped their California Pacific Conference opener at Holy Names, Friday night, 3-0. The Warriors were led by senior Lauren Koons, who recorded seven kills and 10 digs. William Jessup will travel to take on UC Merced, Saturday night. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
