LODI _ The Lincoln Hills 70s Coyotes picked up a win in the Lodi Wine Country Classic this past weekend. It was the first championship for the locals after placing second in their two previous outings. It took extra innings and plenty of nail biting to wrap up the top prize but the Coyotes came through. In the main event the home boys rallied back for a 4-1 victory. Gym Mikaelsen led the attack with 23 runs batted in while hammering out a .947 batting average and slugging 1.842. Also ripping the rawhide were Rich Huskey (13 RBI, .833 average and slugging 1.222), Jim Sandin (.769) and John Wible (.706 and nine RBI). Sandin and Bill Stroh did a great job pitching. The 65s Coyotes compiled a 4-1 record to claim the championship trophy in their first tournament of the young season. The 65 club averaged over 21 runs a game thanks to the hitting of Jim Jones, John Dambrosio, Brock Dagg, D.J. Cox and Nick Fox. Supporting the excellent pitching of Mike Bunyard, Kenny Fedder and Bob Zielinski was a solid defense led by Ron Greeno, Randy Dvorak and Dale Hurlbut. The 60s Coyotes were in a tough division and won three of five games for third place.
