Man arrested for alleged theft

Rocklin Police arrested a man who allegedly stole copper piping and water meters. Christopher Etzel, 48, or Citrus Heights, was arrested for possession of stolen property, theft and conspiracy after police spotted a pickup truck with copper and water meters in it. The officer noticed the truck during routine patrol about 1 a.m. July 29 in the Calverhall and Monument Spring drives area of Rocklin. The area has empty lots and utility services ready to be hooked up, according to the police release. Upon stopping and searching the truck, officers located copper piping and enviro-brass water meters. Unable to locate where the meters and pipes were from, the officers allowed the two occupants of the truck to leave. Later that morning, detectives located where the items had been stolen – the same neighborhood that the truck was spotted. Detectives went to Citrus Heights, located one of the occupants and arrested him. The other suspect was not located. ~Staff report
