Mary’s Pizza Shack recently announced that they have started their annual distribution of 4,000 free pizza certificates to Roseville and Rocklin schools. Each year, Mary’s Pizza Shack provides local schools with “Scholastic Achievement Certificates” to distribute to students based on their academic achievement or other standards as determined by the individual school. Students can redeem their certificate for a free, one-topping bambino pizza at any Mary’s Pizza Shack locations. “My grandmother was a strong believer in supporting the community, and in the importance of education,” said Vince Albano, chief operating officer of Mary’s Pizza Shack. “We started this program many years ago to honor that commitment, and we’ve distributed hundreds of thousands of these certificates over the past 15 years.” Fifty thousand “Scholastic Achievement Certificates” are currently being hand-delivered to over 130 elementary schools that are close to a Mary’s Pizza Shack location, including 12 schools in the Roseville and Rocklin area. Students at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School and other area schools can earn a certificate through their scholastic achievement, as determined by the staff as their school. Mary’s Pizza Shack has a long record of supporting their community schools and nonprofits. Mary’s “Dine & Donate” program is a popular choice for organizations wishing to gather their supporters in a fun evening while raising funds. Nearly 500 Northern California organizations have participated in the program so far this year, receiving nearly $70,000 in contributions in the first 8 months of the year. Mary’s Pizza Shack also offers discounted pizzas to schools and teachers, whether they wish to host a pizza party for their class or have a pizza sale to raise funds. Founded in 1959 by Mary Fazio, Mary’s Pizza Shack now has 18 locations in Northern California and is famous for its homemade Italian food, fun atmosphere, and reasonable prices. Currently owned and operated by the third generation of Mary Fazio’s family, Mary’s Pizza Shack still offers the same homemade meatballs, pasta sauces, pizzas, soups and salad dressings that Mary made famous. From the original “Shack” in Boyes Hot Springs, Mary’s Pizza Shack has now grown to include locations in Sonoma, Napa, Marin, Solano, Contra Costa, Shasta and Placer counties.
