Music should not be cut

I am a student currently in my fifth year of music education since I started taking lessons at my old elementary school in the Rocklin Unified School District. It made me feel sad when I heard that because of the budget cuts they might take away music education in the elementary schools. This would mean that future generations of students would not be able to take lessons at the elementary level and get the same music experience that the generations before them had gotten. I understand that right now, the amount of money the schools are getting isn’t so great, but doesn’t it seem a little cruel to take away music when it makes such a huge, positive impact on the lives of the students who take it? The district may have to make cuts, but music shouldn’t be one. Edith Chavez, Rocklin
