Nominations being accepted for Ruhkala awards

It’s that time of year again, to nominate people, businesses and groups for the annual Ruhkala Community Service Awards. The city of Rocklin announces that the 2010 Ruhkala Community Service Awards will be presented at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 15 at Finn Hall. The city is soliciting nominations for the Ruhkala awards. To make a nomination, please submit a written statement explaining the contributions the person, business or group you are nominating have made to the city of Rocklin. The city clerk, Barbara Ivanusich, will accept nominations until 5 p.m. Monday, March 1 at City Hall, 3980 Rocklin Road in Rocklin. The Roy and Peggy Ruhkala Community Service Awards are named for two individuals who worked for the betterment of the Rocklin community for more than 40 years. During those years they led or were involved in almost every community improvement activity. The city of Rocklin created the Roy and Peggy Ruhkala Community Service Awards to remember their efforts and to recognize recent community service efforts of others in the Rocklin community. There are three categories of awards: Individual or couple: This annual award is made to an individual or couple who have made a significant contribution to the Rocklin community through community service. Business, group or service organization: This annual award is made to a business, group or service organization that has made a significant contribution to the Rocklin community through community service. Pioneer Award: This award is made at the discretion of the city council to individuals who have, over an extended period of time, made significant contributions to the Rocklin community through community service.
