Hopefully, the Herald’s readers are spending today with loved ones, gathered around a table sharing food and fellowship. But today is about more than just eating – what are you thankful for?
In the past year I’ve been blessed to join Gold Country Media as features editor at the Auburn Journal, where I met a lot of great people in the community and in the office, and did a lot of work that made me proud to be a writer.
I’m also thankful for the step up to my dream job – here in Rocklin, where I get to cover a busy community full of interesting people. Today, I’d like to thank our readers for their comments, their letters and their story ideas. And of course, thank you to my reliable team of writers and photographers whose outstanding stories and photos make my job easy. And thanks to my sister paper editors in Auburn, Colfax, El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Granite Bay, Lincoln, Loomis and Roseville for their guidance and support.
I’m thankful for the people in Rocklin and surrounding communities who remind me daily that, yes, most people are genuinely nice and good. In fact, just Saturday, as I stood at an intersection in Loomis, directing traffic for the MandaRUN with my sister-in-ink Joyia Emard, I was pleasantly surprised when so many runners, dog-tired as they neared the end of 5K, 10K and half-marathon runs, gave me a wave, smile and a breathless “thank you” for volunteering.
That’s just one more example of the friendly communities in which we live. Thank you all, and enjoy your holiday.
