Our View: What’s your love story?

Newspaper spouses are a special breed of patient, supportive people.

Our better halves deal with a lot when it comes to our jobs, from waiting patiently as we interview witnesses at a car crash we happened to pass by on our way to the movies to being understanding as dinner gets cold while we update the website with a breaking news story.

My husband and I celebrated our three-year anniversary last weekend. Three years of late nights waiting for me to come home from meetings, listening to stories he really has no reason to care about and even moving twice as my career advanced.

My job even impacted our wedding day. I had spent up all my vacation time, so after we hit the courthouse for a no-hassle civil ceremony, I headed back to the office!

So thanks, Gio. Thanks for the love, patience and willingness to adapt to the crazy circumstances this job has thrown at us. Also, thanks for the crazy last name that is always a great ice-breaker with sources.

What’s your story? Have you been married a year? Eighty years? Do you have a great how-we-met story or a particularly memorable wedding moment?

I want to hear it, and I want to share it with our readers. Valentine’s Day is approaching; share your love story by emailing krissik@goldcountrymedia.com or calling 774-7981. Love is in the air!
