Overturned big rig blocks two lanes of I-80

An overturned big rig backed up eastbound Interstate 80 traffic Wednesday evening. At about 5:09 p.m., California Highway Patrol and other emergency personnel responded to a call of a semi-truck and its trailer on its side near Horseshoe Bar Road., according to an online California Highway Patrol report. The truck blocked two lanes of traffic. The accident also forced authorities to close the Horseshoe Bar eastbound onramp to the interstate, the report stated. Traffic was reportedly stopped back to Rocklin Road but by about 5:30 p.m. it was slowly starting to move in one lane. According to the online report, the overturned vehicle caused “a lot” of surface damage to the roadway, including “deep gouges.” The truck was reportedly still in the lanes at about 7 p.m. when officials indicated that it would be at least another hour before the accident would be cleared. No injuries were reported online. - Staff report
