People in the News: Rocklin resident named to university honors program

Rocklin resident and Saint Francis High School graduate Madison Kilian was named to the University of Portland Honors Program.

A freshman at the university, Kilian is majoring in computer science.

The mission of the University of Portland Honors Program is to enhance the intellectual life of the university community by mentoring high achieving and intrinsically motivated students. Limited to 31 incoming freshman, the program includes honors courses, focused honors work in each student’s major and special emphasis on study abroad, research and service opportunities. The program includes students from all academic disciplines.

The University of Portland is Oregon's Catholic university and has been closely affiliated for nearly a century with the Congregation of Holy Cross in Notre Dame, Ind.
