The Rev. Todd A. Peperkorn, STM, has been named senior pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rocklin. Peperkorn, the third pastor in the history of the 20-year-old Rocklin church, was installed during services on Aug. 21. "Holy Cross exists to serve our neighbors by loving as Christ first loved us,” said church administrator Walt Wismar. “Pastor Peperkorn will lead us in our church's mission of mercy to 'bring them in, build them up, and send them out.'" Peperkorn attended Concordia Teachers’ College in Seward, Nebraska, and completed his B.A. in pre-seminary studies and history in 1992. After matriculating at Concordia Theological Seminary in 1992, Todd became active in the Seminary Kantorei and student government. He completed his Master of Divinity in May 1996, and completed the Master of Sacred Theology in May of 1999. Peperkorn worked in the Admission Office of Concordia Theological Seminary for three years. His work in the Admission Office included traveling around the country encouraging men to study to become pastors, beginning a program for parish pastors called Project Andrew, teaching at the Christ Academy, and teaching an introduction to worship class for an organist workshop. In addition to his duties at Messiah Lutheran Church, Pastor Peperkorn served as the Publications Executive and the editor of Higher Things: Dare to Be Lutheran from 2001-2006. In 1995 he married Kathryn Brandt of Dallas, Texas. A music teacher at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Kathryn Peperkorn taught voice lessons at Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne until May 1999. A professional singer, she now offers private voice lessons. She is also the principal soloist on a CD released, entitled "On My Heart Imprint Your Image," and a second CD entitled "Hark The Glad Sound." "We are so happy to make Holy Cross our new home," said Peperkorn. "Holy Cross has been so caring to us, and the Rocklin area looks like a wonderful place to call home. Jesus' death and resurrection for our sins is what makes this place what it is." The couple has four daughters and a son. Holy Cross Lutheran Church was founded in 1987 by Pastor John-Paul Meyer in a residential living room in Rocklin. Since then, the church has grown to include more than 100 local families and been served by two pastors, a vicar, a deaconess, and many volunteers. In 2007, Holy Cross members constructed and opened a preschool and kindergarten to serve the needs of families throughout the region. The church and school are located at 4701 Grove St. For more information, visit www.holycrossrocklin.org.
