William Jessup University Men’s Basketball Coach Aaron Muhic hasn’t been taking his off-season off. Muhic’s Warriors, fresh off a second place finish in the Cal Pac Conference last season, will be heading across several time zones to take on Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural and Educational Association collegiate champions West Negros University. This is the second trip to Manila for the Warriors in the last handful of years, with this years battle taking place in the 2009 Pre-NOPSSCEA Basketball Tournament organized by the LNA7 Sports Foundation Inc. The tournament is hosted in Bacolod City by Pastor Renato Bravo of Lifegate Community Baptist Church. The team will spend their time off the courts serving in the community through local churches and charity organizations. “What a great opportunity we have to serve in the Philippines this year,” Muhic said. “We are all very excited and are looking forward to the experience, sharing our faith, and playing some basketball.” The William Jessup University players are senior Jason Washington, junior Kadeem Kirsten, and sophomores Tevin Hurd, Austin Nelson, Matthew Walker and Jeremy Devers. Also making the trip as coaches will be Jessup graduates and former Warrior athletes Lucas Birchard and Brett Swarts.
