Placer ARC recently received a $1,500 CVS Caremark Community Grant, intended to help the organization provide social recreation activities to youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The grant is part of CVS Caremark’s All Kids Can program, which strives to empower children with and without disabilities to reach their full potential.

Placer ARC offers services for adults age 18 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Placer County and the greater Sacramento area. Recently, the organization extended its social recreation program On The Go! to youth 16 to 22 years old. The program includes free activities and events designed for youth with disabilities. The grant will allow Placer ARC to continue offering this service free of charge.

“On The Go! Youth is a great program for clients who are transitioning from high school to the adult world,” said Program Coordinator Stephanie Murray, in a press release. “It gives them a chance to meet people outside of their usual circles and make new friends before leaving school for new experiences.”
