Placer Assistance League provides new clothes for children in need
This fall, more than 1,300 Placer County children were provided with new clothes under Assistance League of Greater Placer’s Operation School Bell program. The students in grades kindergarten through high school were referred by their local schools.
Assistance League, a national organization, with 120 chapters, designated Operation School Bell a signature program in 1997. Since that time, more than 3 million children have benefited from the different programs under its umbrella.
Locally, Assistance League served more than 13,000 Placer County children and adults who needed support last year.
Funding for all Assistance League of Greater Placer programs is generated from sales in the all-volunteer Thrift Shop, fundraisers, donations and grants. The Thrift Shop is in the Fiddler Green Shopping Center, 1263 Grass Valley Highway, Auburn.
The league serves people in need in Auburn, Colfax, Cool, Foresthill, Georgetown, Granite Bay, Grass Valley, Lincoln, Loomis, Newcastle, Ophir, Penryn, Rocklin, Roseville, Sheridan and Truckee. For more information, visit www.greaterplacer.assistanceleague.org.
