In response to Dean Smith's letter to the editor on reasons to cross a picket line, I would like to say that there is no reason to ever cross a picket line and stab a worker in the back. I have been a union member for 55 years and no union member ever got rich working for wages.
Striking union members are trying to secure a decent living for themselves and their family. They pay dues, as did I, and I am sure they are happy to pay dues for the wages and benefits they get. Maybe some people hope that all workers should be like the ones at Walmart, where they are paid substandard wages and are forced to get government assistance to make ends meet. I guess this is the new corporate socialism we should expect. I for one reject this way of life.
