Ready for some hot chili, cool cars?
Competition heats up for annual event
Thousands of car enthusiasts and chili lovers are expected to attend this year’s “Hot Chili & Cool Cars” event, which will take over Pacific Street on Sept. 15. Distinct homemade chili is what really spices up the annual event, however, as cooks present their unique recipe to the crowd. “Our chili cook-off is a crowd pleaser,” said Robin Trimble, CEO of Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce. “The chili contest is a very fun competition that allows any local cook – amateur or professional – to showcase their special chili recipes.” Chili booths are still available for those interested in participating in the cook-off. Anyone who has a taste for chili and a craving for a fun competition is encouraged to enter into this year’s competition. Those who think they have an award-winning recipe are encouraged to join the festivities from10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A classic car show, food, crafts, games, local business booths, and live entertainment by Dave Russell will be presented throughout the day. Presented by RC Willey, Five Star Auto Care, and Western Placer Waste Management Authority, and sponsored by the City of Rocklin and PG&E, “Hot Chili & Cool Cars” will be held along Pacific Street between Midas Avenue and Rocklin Road. The event is one of the major fundraisers of the Rocklin Chamber. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of chili kits will be donated to the Matthew Redding Scholarship Foundation, established in the memory of slain Rocklin Police Officer Matthew Redding. Anyone interested in being a chili cook, volunteer, vendor, sponsor or showing off a classic car is asked to call the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce at (916) 624-2548 or visit www.RocklinChamber.com, like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @RocklinChamber. ~ Staff report ________ Chili cook-off When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday,?Sept. 15 Where: Pacific Street between Midas Avenue and Rocklin Road Info: (916) 624-2548
