Registration now open for Rocklin Preschool

Studies have shown the importance of preschool learning with success in kindergartend and later in life, according to a California Superintendent of Schools Universal Preschool Task Force Recport. The city of Rocklin Preschool is opening a preschool site at the new Sunset Ranch Elementary School, 2500 Bridlewood Drive. Additionally, preschool will held at the three sites located at the Fifth Street Recreation Center, 5484 Fifth St.; Rock Creek Elementary School, 2140 Collet Quarry Drive; and Ruhkala Elementary School, 6530 Turnstone Way. Rocklin Preschool’s program emphasizes group learning in a positive environment. Activities include art, music, language development, socialization, field trips and preparation for the kindergarten experience. Rocklin Preschool is a school-year-long program. All Rocklin Unified School District legal holidays are observed. Rocklin Preschool is designed to prepare your child for entrance into school. All participants must be potty trained. Children will be enrolled in age-appropriate classes by birthdate, which determines days and times of class: Birthdates that fall between June 3, 2007 and Dec. 2, 2007, preschool will be held from 8:30-11 a.m. Tuesday and Thursdays. Birthdays that fall between Dec. 3, 2006 and June 2, 2007 will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. For birthdays that fall between June 3, 2006 and Dec. 2, 2006, class will be held from 8:30-11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. For birthdays that fall between Dec. 3, 2005 and June 2, 2006, class will be held from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The Preschool staff is also offering an opportunity for older two-year-olds to have the preschool experience in an age-appropriate setting. The Playschool class for older 2-year-olds is for children who have birthdates between Dec. 3, 2007 and June 3, 2008 and will meet from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Fifth Street Recreation Center only, located at Johnson-Springview Park. Rocklin Preschool’s program emphasizes group learning in a positive environment. Payment is cost-averaged for the year in 10 equal monthly payments, based on $22 per day. A $75 registration fee, non-refundable, is charged at the time of registration. No credit will be given for missed classes due to illness, vacation and other reasons. If interested in enrolling your child for the 2010-11 school year preschool program, please call Program Coordinator Penny Bundy at 625-5264, to make an appointment. At time of registration, please bring a completed, signed 2010-11 Preschool Registration form, photo copy of your child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and parent’s proof of auto insurance, along with a $75 non refundable registration fee.
