Parents can now enroll their children for the 2012 Rocklin Kids Junction and Rocklin Preschool programs. The city of Rocklin Preschool operates at three school sites: Sunset Ranch Elementary School, 2500 Bridlewood Dr.; Rock Creek Elementary, 2140 Collet Quarry Dr.; and Ruhkala Elementary School, 6530 Turnstone Way. The preschool program emphasizes group learning in a positive environment. Activities include art, music, language development, socialization, field trips and preparation for kindergarten. Rocklin Preschool is a school-year program ? observing all Rocklin Unified School District legal holidays. The 3-year-old class (for those whose birthdays fall between 11-2-2008 and 10-1-2009) meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The 4-year-old class (for those born between 11/2/2007 and 10/1/2009) will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:30 to 11:30 and from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. A new twice weekly class will be offered for 4-year-olds on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m. Before and after school childcare programs are offered through Rocklin Kids Junction at each of the 11 Rocklin school sites. The state licensed childcare program offers homework assistance, snacks, sports, art and group play and projects. Enrollment is also open for summer camp programs for school age children as well as preschoolers. To register, stop by the Rocklin Parks and Recreation Office, 5460 Fifth St., from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Bring the child?s birth certificate, immunization records and $75 registration fee.
