Retirement 101, a series of classes for pre- and post-retirees will be offered in May at William Jessup University, 333 Sunset Blvd. The classes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on May 15, 17, 22 and 24. Offered by the California Institute for Financial Literacy, the purpose of the course will be to improve financial awareness of individuals either planning to retire or who have retired. Instructors include Scott Marcoux, a financial advisor and founder of Marcoux Insurance and Financial Services and Cole Garcia, a financial advisor with a local SEC registered investment advisory firm. Marcoux is a licensed insurance agent and a registered representative with Transamerica Financial Advisors, Inc. He serves as a brokerage director for Pinney Insurance Center, Inc., where he trains other financial advisors and insurance agents on life insurance, long term care, disability and annuities. Garcia not only draws on real life experience with numerous clients, but is also licensed in investment securities and insurance. He has taught retirement planning courses at several universities and community colleges throughout California.
